Cape Winelands Riding is situated approximately 45 minutes away from Cape Town in the picturesque wine region that spans between Paarl, Franschhoek, and Stellenbosch.

Day 1

Arrival

Upon settling into your accommodation, embark on a short, leisurely ride to acquaint yourself with your horse and capture the initial charm of the landscape. Return to your lodging for a sundowner by the pool, followed by an exquisite dinner featuring local cuisine and fine wines in either Franschhoek or Paarl.

Day 2

Saddle up after breakfast for a journey through vineyards and orchards. Pause at a viewpoint overlooking the magnificent Paarl Valley for memorable photos. Ride towards Anura Wine Estate, indulging in a thrilling gallop through vineyards and charming old farm paths. Enjoy a wine tasting and lunch at Anura before a relaxed ride back to the stables, with time to unwind before dinner.

Day 3

Acclimated and acquainted with your horse, embark on a spectacular mountain trail through shaded eucalyptus and pine forests. Reach Backsberg, the region’s first fully organic winery, for wine tasting and a gourmet lunch. Ride through vineyards, plum orchards, and the dramatic Great Drakenstein mountain range. Relax with a drink on the patio before returning to your accommodation or enjoying dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 4

Embark on a full-day ride, exploring the eastern side of Simonsberg and experiencing the familiar beauty of the region. After a long gallop through majestic eucalyptus trees, reach Plaisir de Merle for wine tasting and lunch under giant oak trees. The ride back winds through peach and plum orchards, concluding with a traditional barbecue (Braai) dinner at the stables.

Day 5

Engage in Western Games in the sand arena before an afternoon ride through Glen Carlou. Explore picturesque Franschhoek in the late afternoon, known for its gastronomy and historic Bastille. Dinner is a relaxed affair back at Cape Winelands Riding.

Day 6

Ascend a valley for a full-day ride along Simonsberg with a picnic lunch in the woods. A self-cooked meal, reflecting the African style, awaits as part of the family.

Day 7

Enjoy another morning ride, exploring pristine trail routes. Head to a renowned cheese farm for lunch, with an optional horse swim in the dam (weather-dependent). Conclude your last evening at a local family-owned restaurant, a perfect ending to your Cape Winelands Riding experience.

Day 8

Departure

Your final morning ride offers breathtaking views of the Winelands. After check-out, those with booked transfers will be taken to the airport. If you have an evening flight from Cape Town, a last-minute shopping and sightseeing trip to the V & A Waterfront is available.

Getting here

Several international airlines operate flights from Germany and Europe to Cape Town, South Africa. From there, you can reach the farm in approximately 45 minutes by rental car or book a transfer from the airport to Cape Winelands Riding. There are no fixed arrival and departure dates, allowing flexibility in choosing any day, although a recommended minimum stay of 5 nights is advised.
