An 11 day riding adventure through the spectacular Damaraland and to the wild Atlantic Coast.
Here you’ll find ancient craters and remnants from prehistoric eras—not to mention the Skeleton Coast. You might encounter elephants, rhinos, cheetahs, and plains game, or get caught by overflowing rivers—all in all, a tremendous adventure awaits you!

Welcome to Namibia! You will be transferred from the airport in Windhoek to your accommodation for the first night. There, you will meet the other riders and your guide, Andrew Gillies, for a safari briefing and safety orientation, followed by dinner.
Day two begins with an early breakfast before the drive north (approximately 7 hours, including a lunch stop) to the camp by the Aba Huab River. In the afternoon, you will visit the World Heritage Site of Twyfelfontein to see 5,000-year-old petroglyphs.
With the rising sun at your back, the next leg of the journey begins. You ride west towards the distant Atlantic. In this ephemeral river system, the rainfall cycle dictates the seasonal migrations of wildlife; while large herds are not typically found here, with a bit of luck you may spot springbok, oryx, rhinos, elephants, and other animals.
Vast glacial valleys and impressive plateaus, shaped by erosion, offer a well-preserved snapshot of a land with a rich history. Crossing the mountains from the Huab, you ride on to the Ugab river system.
Leave the river valleys behind and cross the seemingly endless, open plains, with the impressive Brandberg (“Burning Mountain”) in the background. These fascinating, vast expanses invite you to pick up the pace.
The final ride takes you across endless desert plains all the way to the ocean, where you reach the spectacular Skeleton Coast—named for the many shipwrecks and remnants of vessels that have run aground here. The cold temperatures and frequent fog of the Atlantic Ocean stand in stark contrast to the hot desert you have left behind—a land of extremes!
You will spend the night at a private guesthouse in the small coastal town of Henties Bay, boasting what is arguably the most spectacular view of the Atlantic Ocean. The final dinner features fresh fish caught in the Atlantic.
Transfer to Windhoek International Airport for flights departing around 15:00.
Consider yourself ‘unplugged’ while on the safari. Cell phone reception is minimal at best and there is no internet connection at all, except in cities and larger towns. There are 12-volt usb chargers in our vehicles for small devices. However, they cannot charge power packs.
Having comprehensive medical insurance is a necessity for riding with us. You will be required to sign an indemnity form. When reading the policy you will discover that they take the well-being of our horses very seriously. For their sake, please be accurate about your weight, riding ability, and fitness.

You sleep in a warm, comfortable bedroll on a stretcher, tents are available if required although then you miss out on the spectacular stars overhead – few places on earth have zero light pollution…..this is one of those few.
