Our Eswatini Riding Holidays seamlessly blend delightful horseback excursions with luxurious stays at Mlilwane’s Rest Camp and KaMsholo’s Tinsele Camp – each equipped with private bathrooms, electricity, and the company of abundant wildlife right outside your door. The 7-night trail includes 2 nights at the EmaSomini Fly Camp, nestled in the northern foothills of Mlilwane. With a rich 60-year history, Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary stands as Eswatini’s trailblazing conservation area. Referred to as Eswatini’s Outdoor Lover’s Paradise, guests relish the freedom to explore roads and trails, either guided or on their own, indulging in activities like hiking, running, and mountain biking. All horseback rides come with expert guidance.

Adding to the allure, KaMsholo Bushveld Safaris emerges as the newest gem among safari parks – a pristine Lowveld reserve concealed beneath the majestic Lubombo Mountains. A scenic 2-hour drive through Eswatini unfolds a distinct biome, accentuating the remarkable diversity of this riding vacation. Expect an array of experiences – from thrilling game drives and conquering the famed Nyonyane Mountain to intimate river crossings and panoramic views of Malkerns, Ezulwini, and Mantenga valleys. The ever-changing habitats, coupled with the breathtaking bushland featuring giraffes set against the Lubombo backdrop, provide a stunning backdrop for ranch-style riding alongside the beautiful Nguni cattle in KaMsholo.

Designed as a primarily camp-based adventure, our guests have the freedom to choose a new activity each day, whether it’s a refreshing swim or a day of tranquil relaxation amidst the natural surroundings. Itinerary

This is a sample itinerary – subject to change at any time. 

Day 1

Arrival:
Upon your afternoon arrival at the camp, take a moment to relax and rejuvenate. Gather with your guide and fellow travelers at 4 pm for a delightful introductory ride followed by a convivial sundowner. Enjoy accommodation in the permanent camp, complete with a private bathroom.

Day 2

Mililwane Wildlife Sanctuary:
Commence the day early with a 7 am breakfast, setting off at 8 am for a morning ride through the Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary and expansive plains, indulging in invigorating gallops (approximately 3 hours in the saddle). After a camp lunch, embark on an afternoon ride along the plains and by the river (approximately 2 hours in the saddle). Retire for the night with dinner and accommodation in the permanent camp.

Day 3 & 4

Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary – EmaSomini Fly Camp (optional):
Embark on an early start to journey to the EmaSomini Fly Camp (optional) for a two-night stay. The camp, devoid of electricity and private bathrooms, invites you to pack a small overnight bag with essentials. Explore the spectacular mountains in the north of Mlilwane with daily rides lasting approximately 4-6 hours, savouring a picnic lunch in the saddlebags. Secure your main luggage at the permanent camp during this period.

Alternative: Opt for the Fly Camp-free option, spending these days in the permanent base camp. Tailor your experience with either two short rides per day or a full-day ride, catering to the group’s preferences.

Day 5

Mililwane Wildlife Sanctuary:
After an early camp meal, return to the permanent camp. Enjoy lunch packed in the saddlebags. In the afternoon, settle into your comfortable accommodation with ensuite bathrooms in the camp and unwind.

Day 6 & 7

Mililwane Wildlife Sanctuary / KaMsholo Bushveld Safaris:
Experience something extraordinary with a special morning ride in the Mlilwane Reserve. Later, journey to KaMsholo, a new camp. Enjoy a restful afternoon before setting out for a sundowner ride. KaMsholo Camp, equipped with ensuite bathrooms, provides a two-night stay, allowing you to witness the herding of Ngunis in the morning and the captivating sight of giraffes on the afternoon ride.

Day 8

Departure:
Bid farewell after a final breakfast, departing at 9 am for the return journey to the airport.

The accommodation

Both reserves offer a selection of distinct camps, ensuring that each guest finds suitable accommodation.

Limited single accommodations are available at both lodging establishments and campsites for an additional fee.

Both reserves offer a selection of distinct camps, ensuring that each guest finds suitable accommodation. The central hub for dining and activities is the “Rest Camp,” serving as the base camp. Guests of the Eswatini Riding Holidays will be comfortably housed in charming Rondavels designed for 2-3 occupants.

During the sleep out, you will be staying in lightweight tents. Camping beds, duvets and towels are available. There are bush toilets, but no showers. Meals will be prepared on the campfire.

Catering:

The water in the camps is drinkable and is meticulously filtered for your convenience. In an effort to support environmental sustainability, we encourage our guests to bring a sturdy reusable water bottle, which can be refilled with fresh water on-site. Alternatively, bottled water is available for purchase at the camp.

Meals at the base camp are served in the restaurant, featuring buffet-style breakfast and dinner, along with à la carte lunch options. During the camp-outs, all meals are expertly prepared over an open fire, utilising ingredients sourced from the base camp. We are happy to accommodate vegetarians and individuals with allergies with prior arrangements. Please understand that while we strive to meet specific dietary preferences, we may not be able to cater to all requests (e.g., vegan, fruitarian, etc.).
