Gather with your fellow riders at Nairobi Wilson Airport and receive a comprehensive briefing about the upcoming week. Your flight is scheduled to depart from Wilson Airport around 10:30 AM, and you’ll touch down in the Mara at approximately 11:15 AM. There, you will be warmly greeted by your seasoned safari guide, Gordie Church, who will escort you on a game drive to your exclusive mobile camp, just in time for a delightful lunch. In the afternoon, you’ll partake in a safety briefing, and once you’ve settled into the camp, you’ll embark on a short ride to acquaint yourself with the horses. Your meals for the day, both lunch and dinner, will be served in the comfort of the camp. The riding distance for the day typically ranges from 5 to 10 kilometers. Your overnight stay will be at a private tented camp situated in Nkilenya, Lemek Conservancy.

Both the mornings and afternoons are dedicated to the exploration of Lemek’s riverine forests and expansive open plains. This region teems with diverse wildlife, such as giraffes, warthogs, zebras, hartebeests, and, with a stroke of luck, even cheetahs and leopards.

In the morning, you might savor Bloody Marys, while ‘sundowners’ in the evening could feature Pink Gins as you enjoy the picturesque views. All your meals will be served right at the camp.

The day’s riding typically covers a distance of 15 to 20 kilometers. For your second night, you’ll rest at Nkilenya within the Lemek Conservancy.

This region offers a magnificent landscape for exploration, whether by horse or vehicle. You have the option to ford the Mara River and journey beneath the iconic Siria Escarpment.

The wildlife concentration in this area is truly awe-inspiring, and there are ample opportunities to navigate around fallen trees, left in the wake of resident elephants (although jumping these is purely optional). This area is home to waterbucks, elands, jackals, hyenas, and lions, alongside many other captivating wildlife species.

All your meals will be served at the camp, and the day’s riding typically covers a distance of 10 to 15 kilometers.

You’ll spend a second night at the Mara River within the Mara North Conservancy.

After savoring a hearty breakfast, your journey begins in a southerly direction, leading you across the scenic Maternity Plain. The landscape offers stunning vistas in every direction, and the terrain is ideal for the horses, providing an excellent riding experience.

You’ll have the unique opportunity to cross the Mara River on horseback, entering the renowned Mara Triangle. Here, a picnic lunch awaits in a densely forested area often frequented by elephants.

Post-lunch, you’ll embark on a short ride, followed by an on-foot ascent to the summit of the escarpment. Breakfast and dinner will be served at the camp, with a delightful picnic lunch in the bush. Your day’s ride typically spans a distance of 20 to 25 kilometers.

For the night, you’ll stay at the Out of Africa Camp in the Mara Triangle.

Today offers you the flexibility to explore the Mara Triangle by both riding and driving, unveiling captivating vistas that extend towards the distant Serengeti.

This corner of the ecosystem is a natural marvel, graced with croton thickets, forests, and expansive tall grasslands, creating an ideal environment for encountering rhinos, elephants, buffaloes, and lions.

As the late afternoon approaches, you’ll have the opportunity to visit a small traditional homestead, where our local Maasai hosts warmly welcome you.

All your meals will be provided at the camp, and the day’s riding typically covers a distance of 10 to 15 kilometers.

You’ll spend a second night at the Out of Africa Camp in the Mara Triangle, immersing yourself in the remarkable surroundings.

Today’s adventure begins with a descent from the escarpment on foot, heading due east. You’ll ride back over the Mara River, skirting the village of Rianta, and continue onwards to a delightful picnic lunch spot nestled under scattered acacia trees.

Following an extended siesta to rejuvenate, your journey will take you over the Koiyaki Plain to a new camp situated along the Olare Orok Stream, a water source traditionally used by the Maasai for their cattle.

Both breakfast and dinner will be served at the camp, and a picnic lunch will be enjoyed amidst the picturesque bush. The day’s ride typically spans a distance of 20 to 25 kilometers.

You’ll spend the night at a private tented camp at Kampi Ya Simba KO8 within the Mara North Conservancy.

In both the morning and afternoon, you’ll embark on captivating rides through this breathtaking terrain. This particular corner of the Mara is nothing short of magical and offers an exceptional riding experience. It’s also the domain of two large prides of lions, making it a prime location for a thrilling big-cat encounter.

Following your evening meal, there’s an opportunity for a vehicle excursion with a spotlight to uncover the fascinating world of nocturnal creatures.

All your meals will be served at the camp, and the day’s riding typically spans a distance of 15 to 20 kilometers.

For a second night, you’ll be staying at KO8 within the Mara North Conservancy, fully immersing yourself in the unique surroundings.

Departure

Your final morning ride unfolds in this captivating country, covering a riding distance of 10 to 15 kilometers.

After a hearty brunch, it’s time to bid a fond farewell to the horses and the dedicated camp crew. Subsequently, you’ll be transferred to the airstrip for your flight back to Nairobi. Typically, this flight departs the Mara at around 14:45, arriving at Nairobi Wilson Airport at 16:15.

Upon your arrival in Nairobi, you will be greeted and transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) for your international flight home or to your hotel. Opting for dinner en-route to the airport is available and can be settled locally.

Departure

You’ve sadly reached your last day in the Limpopo Valley and it’s your chance to take a few more photos of the elephants while you enjoy one last ride which allows for long wonderful canters through the bush. With enough time for a nice hot shower and a delicious brunch, you arrive at the stables before embarking on our journey home.
