Itinerary
This is a sample itinerary – subject to change at any time.
Day 1
Arrival
Arrival in Fes, transfer to the hotel, and dinner in the Fes Old Town (Medina). Overnight stay at the hotel.
A group transfer is included for arrivals by 4:00 PM. For later arrivals, a taxi can be pre-booked (payable locally to the driver).
Day 2
The morning allows time for a brief sightseeing tour of Fes before driving to Ifrane. Situated at an altitude of just under 1,700 meters, the town is popular for its pleasant summer climate. The horses await us just outside the town. In the evening, you will get acquainted with your horse during a short ride to the campsite. Overnight stay at the camp.
Day 4
The trail leads across vast plains and valleys and through dense oak and pine forests. A river winds through the valley, and we cross it. A path leads up through a gorge toward the spring. In the wide valleys, the grass often grows meters high, while wild cedar forests cover the mountain ridges. Camp at Lake Ouiwan.
Day 5
We ride along the lake and follow a high-altitude trail offering views across the entire valley. Later, you reach the 40 springs of Oum Erbia. Numerous small cafés and restaurants line the banks of the streams. After a cool drink, the route follows small mule paths up the mountain and descends along a saline river into a valley. You soon arrive at Lake Aguelman Agziza. Here, the local community has set up large, nomad-style tents where tourists can stay—and where you, too, will find shelter for the night. It is a delightful blend of European and Moroccan cultures.
Day 6
A morning ride along the lake. The area further back is wooded, and Barbary macaques live in the cedar trees. Vast green plains invite long gallops, interspersed with patches of forest that offer shade. The camp is situated in a valley beside a small, saline stream.
Day 7
You climb back up the mountain along a narrow mule track. Once on the plateau, the path leads through grassy areas and into the forest. Monkeys live here too, often fleeing to the highest branches with loud screeches when they spot the horses. After a picnic in the woods, you descend to a barren plain. On the far side, there is one more mountain to climb before the camp at Lake Sidi Ali comes into view.
Day 8
You take things easy this morning. Around midday, the horses are washed in the lake, or you can even ride into the water for a swim.
After lunch, you ride into a secluded valley filled with ancient thuja trees. The camp is located by a small lake where many mares and foals are grazing.
Day 9
You descend into a wide valley as civilization gradually reappears. You enjoy a few final stretches of galloping before it is time to say goodbye. The horses are loaded onto the transport truck, and the riders travel to Fes by car. Dinner is at a small restaurant along the way, followed by an overnight stay at a hotel in Fes.

The accommodation
Hotels
Accommodation at the beginning and end of the trip, as well as for one night in the middle, is in mid-range hotels or lodges; some hotels have a swimming pool.
Mobile Camp
During the ride, camping takes place in simple tents, with a separate tent provided for toilets and washing.
The Food
Meals at the camp are often cooked over an open fire. Special dietary requirements can be accommodated with prior notice.
Tea—especially mint tea—is a staple of Moroccan culture.
As Morocco is a predominantly Muslim country, little to no alcohol is consumed. If you would like to have a drink during the trip, you should arrange this in advance or bring something with you from duty-free.
