An adventurous ride across some of the most breath-taking desert landscapes on the planet.

A challenging ride taking you from the dunes of the central Namib, to the very edge of the Sperrgebiet National Park. Here, you will encounter diverse terrain, from grassy plains, open desert, and mountains. You might even spot desert-adapted game along the way. Your adventure ends at Klein Aus Vista near the home of the wild horses of the Namib.

Before returning to Windhoek, there is usually time to visit Kolmanskop, which is the old German diamond mining town and the coastal town of Luderitz.

Itinerary Summary

This is a sample itinerary – subject to change at any time.

Days 1

Arrive at Windhoek’s Hosea Kutako Airport. We arrange transport to your overnight accommodation. Here, you will also receive a pre-dinner briefing and safety talk from your guide. You will stay overnight in Windhoek.

Day 2

Travel to the desert with lunch en-route, arriving at the camp in time for sundowners in an idyllic setting.

Day 3 – 8

Off we go! There are no tracks in the desert, so no roads and no paths. Only animal tracks. We cross 27 km of the Namib dune sea – you will need to be fit for this!

Day 9 & 10

We end our ride among the mountains near Aus, where we visit the wild horses and the quaint town of Luderitz.

Day 11

Departure for Windhoek Int Airport arriving around 17:00.

About the Safari

All meals are prepared for you on an open fire and are also an experience.
“Imagine 1 ton of horse feed, 1 ton of firewood, 100 bales of hay and alfalfa, 7,000 to 10,000 liters of water (depending on how thirsty the horses are), 15 to 20 pallets of beer and other drinks (depending on how thirsty the riders are), not to forget 50 kg of potatoes, 15 loaves of bread, 12 packets of apples, I don’t know how many kilos of meat, dozens of eggs and everything else that is needed for up to 20 horses and around 20 more people than to feed and please for 10 days. Then there is the luggage and the equipment: 15 to 20 blanket rolls, camp beds, folding chairs, and tents, 1 refrigerator and 2 freezers, several hot showers… and last but not least the ‘bush toilet’. As escort vehicles, we take a 10 ton Mercedes truck with a trailer and a 4×4 Land Cruiser with a kitchen trailer… and a team to load and unload all the stuff over and over again. Where we pitch our camp, there is usually nothing beforehand; and when we go on, we leave only our hoofprints in the sand – for we ride in rough terrain. The accommodation

One night in a lodge, 9 nights camping wild with some unexpected luxuries like ice in your sundowners, hot bucket-showers, delicious food around companionable campfires and the magnificent southern stars arching over your comfortable bed at night.

Accommodation in spacious tents (for two), however, most guests sleep under the stars. There are camp beds with comfortable bedding, pillows, folding chairs, hot bucket showers in the evening, and chemical toilets in the camps. Luggage is transported by truck on gravel roads; we ride across the country and meet the vehicles at the campsite.
